How to run wifi in Ubuntu?
Step 1:
Switch on your Wi-Fi adapter. Now Left click on the network icon which is shown in the panel.you will see there the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect your system.Mark the check button in front of that network to connect to it.When you do so the network icon will be replaced by the icon as shown in the screen shot no. 1.

Step 2:

Now right click on that network icon and go to "Edit connections".A separate dialogue box will open up.There you will see many tabs which include options like Wired,Wireless,Mobile broadband etc.Now click on the Wireless tab. There you will see the name of the Wi-Fi connection to which we are to connect to like in the screen shot the network to which I want to connect is "AUTO W_BCH".

Step 3:

Click on the network and go to Edit option.

Step 4:

As you click on Edit a separate dialogue box opens up.In this go to IPv4 settings tab. Now Change the method to Manual from Automatic(DHCP) which is default. This method will provide user to use static IP instead of dynamic IP.

Step 5:
Again click onto the Add button and add your IP address provided by the service provider and apply those settings.

Step 6:

After some time a pop up will be shown on the screen indicating that your system have been connected to the network.

It's done now and enjoy using internet.
